There are many companies and people moving into the Electric Car market. There is some but not a lot of information out there about what is happening and what is vaporware.  This NPR podcast provides some useful information, plus many of the listener questions at the end raise some of the fears which people have as we move off our dependence on oil.

As one of the presenters says 98% of our current transportation is based on oil and it is going to take a long time to switch to other sources of fuel.  Some of the concerns of listeners include: the Electromagnetic Field Interference (EFI) associated with batteries, the range of the vehicles, and the availability of Lithium for the batteries.

The various guests on the program come from a variety of backgrounds:

Les Goldman, attorney in private practice representing A123 - This company is a subsiduary of GE and is very involved in the GM Volt project as well as selling add on batteries to make a Toyota Prius into a plug-in car which can go 30-40 miles on electricity only.

Chelsea Sexton, co-founder, Plug In America - Originally a GM Sales person who sold the EV1 in California in the late 90s and she is featured in the "Who Killed the Electric Car Movie"

John O'Dell, senior editor, Edmunds.com www.greencaradvisor.com - the car website.

Elon Musk, founder and chair, Tesla Motors - The founder of Tesla the only almost production Electric Sports Car, his answers are very enlightening.
