The rhetoric of the enemies of changing to a sustainable way of life, that rhetoric is based not on a sincere belief in the ineffectiveness of those sustainability efforts, but rather is based on their fear and knowledge that they will not be able to control and make profit from the new economy which will be created as a result of these efforts.

We need to have a compact, consistent message to give detractors. 1) the system is broken and dysfunctional. 2) we can redefine prosperity 3) the transition will give us a greater feeling of being part of nature, knowledge we hand over something good to coming generations, and a more loving relaxed lifestyle. WHAT ARE WE WAITING FOR? PROMOTION?

It seems there are a range of opinions, because it depends how efficient the conversion is and how much land could be covered.
It seems that with a combination of solar PV, wind, geothermal, and water-based energy sources will be enough. The other question is, how long will it take to develop that much new energy.

Please tell me again: Can solar energy be harnessed to provide all the energy that we currently have: electricity for lights, electronic devices,.. and also to power cars and machinery?
