The group I founded, Local Future, educates the public on how to create jobs, increase personal security, and protect the environment.
Unemployment is rising. The ability to make ends meet is declining. The environment is being damaged and destroyed. The global economy is failing.
The solution involves increasing independence from this failing system.
Local Future helps individuals to decrease their dependence on this flawed system by creating new, independent, sustainable local economies, that provide jobs, security, and environmental protection.
Jobs are created by developing local economies. People start by increasing sharing and decreasing consumption. Growing food at home increases personal security and also decreases costly food expenses. Buying locally grown food creates jobs and improves the environment. Renovating homes to greatly decrease energy consumption not only creates jobs but also increases self sufficiency.
It is time to join together to create jobs, increase personal security, protect the environment, and provide for our own local future. [editor's note: Local Future produced the successful Sustainability Conference in May/June 2008, and is currently working on its next conference, scheduled for November 2008]
