Look for an action location near you, or go online to participate; click for more informationDon't forget to take part in Saturday's (Oct 24th, 2009) observances of International Day of Climate Action.  This international day is intended to raise awareness in the public and to pressure political leaders to take stronger action.  You can find an action near you online, including my action in Long Island near New York City.

The timing for this event is especially planned to help move forward those policy-makers and governmental figures attending the Copenhagen climate conference in December 2009.  The perception of lack of strong citizen focus on environment is likely a major cause of rather weak environmental goals that have been set to-date, as exemplified in the Kyoto protocol.  The goals currently in effect, and those being discussed for the next round starting with Copenhagen 12/2009, will not, according to leading climate scientists, avoid major climate tipping points and distastrous climate change over the next century, along with related effects on fresh water supplies and food supplies.

I will be running a free event in the New York City area, in Garden City, Nassau County.  There will be two expert speakers, one a scientist and one a policy and green economics expert.  If you are curious or  worried, or both, and even more so  if you would like to attend, check the details for the event I am running, or as mentioned find an event near you, sign up, and participate.

Member: PT (David Alexander) My lifelong pursuit, since age 18, has been to live more fully and find wisdom. This has involved studies with Zen masters, Tai Chi masters, and great psychotherapists while achieving my license as a gestalt therapist and psychoanalyst.

Along the way, I became aware of how the planet is under great stress due to the driven nature of human activity on this planet.

I believe that the advancement of human well-being will reduce societies addictive behaviors, and will thus also help preserve the environment and perhaps slow down the effects of global warming and other major threats to the health of human societies.
