There's been lots of debate about how best to eat green and healthy. It seems to be time to discuss eating meat, and various non-meat-eating options as well. Are some options better than others, if you do decide to eat meat? And, where can you look for local, organic food?
Is local always the right answer? Is it greener to be vegan than vegetarian? How have you convinced people to eat less meat? What other answers are you looking for from our green team about what's on your plate? Answers will be posted here and at the Live Earth site, which originated this survey.

I'm rethinking this and would feel remiss not making another comment. I just read something that indicates that vegans have a significantly higher incidence of colorectal cancer than the general population.

Just the other day, I was fortunate enough to see a video found at nutritionfacts, org: Uprooting the Leading Causes of Death. In it, Dr. Greger makes an extremely convincing argument for one to become a vegan. I'm a real omnivore, bordering on carnivore, and consider the possibility of voluntarily giving up my delicious meat and cheese/figuring out how to be anything else rather overwhelming. But even I am convinced that I should reconsider my position. Death is not that insignificant a topic.
My lifelong pursuit, since age 18, has been to live more fully and find wisdom. This has involved studies with Zen masters, Tai Chi masters, and great psychotherapists while achieving my license as a gestalt therapist and psychoanalyst.
Along the way, I became aware of how the planet is under great stress due to the driven nature of human activity on this planet.
I believe that the advancement of human well-being will reduce societies addictive behaviors, and will thus also help preserve the environment and perhaps slow down the effects of global warming and other major threats to the health of human societies.
