Is the sky falling? Here is an audio worth listening to... and the text as well:

Living on Earth: Is Chicken Little Right?

Chicken Little is the fairy tale character who ran around telling everyone that the sky was falling.  It seems he was not observing the science, however, and he ended up with serious problems.

For those who have the patience to listen and/or read, what do you think of this content, from an interview with Paul Ehrlich?

Very interesting - and frightening - particularly as I had just been reading that the unexpected large fall in the Brazilian birth rate means that its population will stabilise at a level that would be sustainable even if the demand on land climbed to Swiss levels. Digging into the UN report referenced here, you find that the global human population has been drawing on resources equivalent to more than one Earth can provide for the past 20 years, meaning destruction and depletion of non-renewable resources. I've rounded up some of these things in my blog at:

Member: PT (David Alexander) My lifelong pursuit, since age 18, has been to live more fully and find wisdom. This has involved studies with Zen masters, Tai Chi masters, and great psychotherapists while achieving my license as a gestalt therapist and psychoanalyst.

Along the way, I became aware of how the planet is under great stress due to the driven nature of human activity on this planet.

I believe that the advancement of human well-being will reduce societies addictive behaviors, and will thus also help preserve the environment and perhaps slow down the effects of global warming and other major threats to the health of human societies.
