Weather reporter Anthony Watts, "expert" on climate change; click to see the videoThat's right, behind the friendly weatherman, there is a secret government, plotting to make you believe in Global Warming.

One man stands in the way of this insidious conspiracy.

Anthony Watts is a humble meteorologist at a California radio station dedicated to nothing more than reporting fair, and balanced news.  Over recent years, through careful and painstaking detective work, he has fearlessly uncovered the the climate change plot.  See the video

Google is losing their aura of doing the right things -- they are slowly changing into the typical faceless and uncaring corporation (perhaps that is what they were from the start anyway). I will look for another location to play that video.

I'm not a lawyer, but this seems just plain wrong.

Google -- or anyone else -- doesn't _consider_ complaints when someone makes one, they just take stuff offline without looking.

_Any_ complaint is enough for Google to take down a YouTube video under the DMCA.

The author of the work then is responsible to counter-complain:

saying, in this case, that showing Watts's face and the cover of Watts's book while discussing the book is _not_ a copyright violation.

In fact it's the same thing Google Books and Amazon do, innit?

Then Google has all they need to put the video back online.

It's a dance step under the DMCA law.

Anyone can complain.
Under the DMCA, that's all it takes.
Google takes whatever they were showing down.
The person who made it then is expected to counter-complain, if they're just being harassed -- say no it did NOT violate copyright.
The provider takes a first look at the item -- after the countercomplaint. Assuming they see it obviously isn't stolen material, THEN they can put it back up, and they're covered legally.
