A new green grant was announced in March for organizations providing green products, services, energy or food. Grant winners will be rewarded with a total of $30,000 in services to help them recruit, train and retain great employees. Detailed information about the grant can be found on its Web site at http://www.greenbusinessgrant.com.
The current economic conditions as well as the additional costs to provide sustainable products and services has led to the need for increased efficiency in green companies. Simultaneously, organizations in the green industry need quality employees to implement their vision and mission. With a highly-motivated and driven workforce, green companies can reduce costs, increase efficiency and compete against traditional firms for top talent.
Interestingly, in high-growth industries like sustainable products and services, recruiting and retaining top talent is still a challenge most organizations struggle to manage. Due to the growing awareness and recognition of sustainable organizations, 92% of job-seekers want to work for a company that is environmentally friendly. The Green Business Grant will help growing green companies attract, motivate and retain top talent in the green industry.
Having a talented, high performing staff will provide green businesses with a competitive advantage to accelerate growth. If green companies have the great engineers, scientists and growers, it will help them increase innovation, improve productivity, support their triple bottom line, and become an Employer of Choice.
Grants will be awarded to a small-, medium-, and large-sized environmentally friendly company which meet the eligibility criteria and demonstrate the greatest green impact. Eligible companies must be US-based, have at least ten employees, be in operation for at least two years, and generate a majority of their revenue from green energy, products, or services. Companies must apply at http://www.greenbusinessgrant.com by April 30, 2010 to be considered for the grant.
