This is the dirty little secret that is dirty and nearly secret, but not little. The plastic that innocently wraps our supermarket foods, that is disposed of when toys are opened and when toys are discarded, that permeates the practice of medicine, that is used for eating on and with, and for manufacturing, and for insulation, and in home furnishing; the plastic that fills all aspects of most "civilized" life, that plastic is wreaking havoc in the natural world that supports our ability to live in a healthy manner.
For more information I created a short article with additional links. The video attached here, however, speaks volumes just by itself.
From the YouTube page: "Our plastic problem is our oil problem. It all comes from the same stuff, crude. And right now, there's more BP crude spilling into the Gulf than Exxon Valdez could have dreamed of. Meanwhile our plastic production and consumption continues unabated, choking every living thing in the ocean, in the air, and on land, and potentially contaminating the entire marine food web."
What do YOU think are the long-term effects of the use of plastics world-wide?
